Scott Swinford
Adjutant / Quartermaster - Army
Scott Swinford served honorably in the US Army from 1981 to 1986, attaining the rank of
Sergeant. He earned his VFW eligibility as a Military Policeman with the 260th Military Police
Company, 728th Military Police Battalion at Camp Carroll, Korea.
Scott is a Life member of Hall-Evey Post 4186 in Clinton, IL where he has served as Post
Quartermaster and is currently Post Commander. As a Post Commander he has attained All-
State honors twice. Scott has also served as the District 11 Commander three times, attaining
All-State honors for the year 2019-2020.
He has an Associate’s Degree in Law Enforcement from Central Texas College. His military
education includes US Army Military Police School, Fort McClellan, AL; DOD Patrol Dog
Handler Course, DOD Patrol/Narcotics Dog Handler Course, both at Lackland AFB, TX and
Primary Leadership Development Course, Bad Tolz, Germany.
Scott has been an Insurance Agency manager, a Systems Administrator, a software trainer and
installer and was a member of the National Board of Directors for the National Data Group, a
computer user group for Insurance agencies using a specific automation platform. Most recently
Scott has worked in the Convenience Store industry as both a General Manager and District
Manager.
Family is a top priority for him. Scott and his wife Mary, between them have 6 children
(including 1 deceased), 2 of which are also VFW members, 17 grandchildren (including 1
deceased) and 28 Great grandchildren, (including 1 deceased).
Scott is a Life member of the Military Order of the Cootie and Darvin Volkert AMVETS Post 14
and a member Crang-Bennet American Legion Post 103. He is a member of the DeWitt County
American Poolplayers Association, Dad Joe Smith’s Muzzleloading Club and the Mackinaw
Valley Longrifles.
