Doug Jameson was elected Junior Vice Commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Department of Illinois, on June 13, 2026, at the 107th State Convention in Springfield.

He served in the United States Army National Guard and Reserve for 20 years, including 12 years as a Military Technician, from 1981 to 2001, and retired as an O-4 after rising through the enlisted grades to E-6. Doug earned his VFW eligibility serving in Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm, and his military decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal with two campaign stars, Army Reserve Component Achievement Medals, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with "Hourglass” and "M” devices, and the Liberation Medals from Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, among other awards and citations."

 A VFW member since 1991, Doug initially joined in Jefferson City, Missouri, before transferring to Post 1739 in Belleville, Illinois, where he holds a Gold Legacy Life membership. He has served as a two-time All-State and All-American Commander at both the Post and District levels and has held leadership roles at the Department level, including State Surgeon and Veterans Assistance Commission Liaison. He currently serves as the Department Junior Vice Commander and sits on the National Legislative Committee.

 Doug earned his Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from Missouri State University and Public Administration from the University of Missouri. He is also a graduate of the U.S. Army Command & General Staff College and the Defense Acquisition University as a Level III Certified Acquisition Professional. After retiring from the military, he worked in civilian government for 18 years and now practices as a licensed Realtor.

He is a member of the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, American Veterans, Military Officers Association of America, Military Order of Foreign Wars, and the Shriner Legion of Honor.

 Doug resides in Belleville, Illinois, with his wife Stacy. They have six children and four grandchildren, and among all his titles, he treasures "Papa Doug” the most. In his free time, he enjoys travelling and home gardening with Stacy.
